The magic of the craftmanship of the Sardinian filigree in Bosa

The Janas, magical Sardinian fairies, the first creatures to weave the filigree, were also able to weave forever the destinies of men. Today this art has passed into the hands of the artisans of the island. Observing the master goldsmiths at work is an opportunity to explore the techniques of the craft of filigree and witness the birth of the typical Sardinian jewel. The experience will take place inside the goldsmiths’ workshops in the centre of Bosa.

A glass of wine in your hands...

A tour to discover the cellars, where the famous Malvasia of Bosa is produced, a limited production ranging from the “sweet” version to the traditional dry one with iodised hints, notes of citrus and apples and an enveloping finale of Mediterranean scrub. Tasting can be organised in the cellar or we will be happy to welcome you directly at our rural hotel with swimming pool, La Corte degli Ulivi, for a journey into the authentic Sardinian wine tradition.

The filet of Bosa (sa randa osinca)

The refined filet of Bosa (in Sardinian language sa randa osinca) is an embroidery that is made on a base built from net, using a ‘modano’, a long large metal needle, equipped with an open eye at the end.  Discover with us the ancient art of embroidery, a technique whose origins are linked to the masculine world of fishing and which produces wonderful fabrics decorated with geometric patterns or motifs of plant, animal or religious inspiration, an art that is handed down from generation to generation.

Flusio and the art of weaving asphodel baskets

A few kilometres from Bosa stands the ancient village of Flussio, where there is hidden a world of traditions, passions and the art of weaving the stems of asphodel, a typical plant of the Sardinian spring. The corbule, the baskets typical of the area, are obtained from the interweaving of the asphodel stems. The processing is very particular and we recommend that you experience in person the explanation of the weaving process, while taking a walk in the territory of Sardinia called Planargia and its incredible variety of landscapes.

Hands in the pasta

To live convivial moments, where you learn the methods of preparation of Sardinian ravioli and panadas, here is the Laboratory of traditional Sardinian cuisine. The workshop can be set up at La Corte degli Ulivi, our rural hotel in Sardinia, or with local businesses. In spite of its humble pastoral origins, the cuisine of Sardinia is a triumph of flavours throughout the meal and is characterised by an excellent typical local production of cured meats, cheeses and olives. Many products are certified, such as PAT asphodel honey, Sardinian pecorino DOP, extra virgin olive oil with cultivars from Bosa and Malvasia DOC.
